LCA Bible Memory 2009-2010
In an effort to build a strong scriptural basis for life,
We have chosen to memorize the King James Version because it has a classical and poetic style to it. Though for Bible classes and scripture study we use the New International Version, we believe memorizing scriptures in the KJV will give our students exposure to an additional translation. It will help them as they build vocabulary and understanding.
Ultimately the Bible memory curriculum will cover a three-year cycle of passages which will be repeated so that a solid core of scripture passages will become part of each student's Biblical knowledge. Two of the cycles are shorter passages memorized on a weekly basis, one of the cycles includes longer passages that are memorized over several weeks. For the 2009-2010 school year we will return to our first cycle to evaluate where our students are after having memorized these verses two years ago.
Memory verses are introduced each week in chapel on the dates specified in the table below. Teachers will generally assess the students the following week. Teachers will inform students on which days they will be assessed. Kindergarten students will only memorize the section of the scripture that is in bold print.
