Labor Day holiday is over but the real labor begins.  Homework starts Tuesday.  Your child's first math test will be Tuesday.  So far there is no memory verse but that will probably change in the week to come.  We are learning about bugs in science.  In one of the centers your child will paint their own bug and we will be looking for bugs outside to analyze in class.  We will have our own buggy zoo.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding
but it all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths."  (Prov. 3:5-6)

Who says school is boring!  They have never passed through LCA first grade.  School is not just about drilling and lectures.  We experience, create, and discover learning in this class.  Students experience learning by purchasing things from money they have earned in class.  Sometimes we discover learning through different centers. Creating our own books through theme cycles makes sentence writing fun.  Learning about authors, their methods of writing, and different kinds of literature helps us to be creative as we write stories of our own.  More importantly your children will have a solid Biblical foundation that they can apply to their every day life.  These are just a few things we do.  Learning is fun, exciting, and life-changing in first grade.
