LCA Summer Reading Program

Students entering grades K5 through 12 are required to participate in a summer reading program to maintain and improve their reading skills. Students are required to read the books listed below for the grade they will be entering in the fall. The first book on the list should be read the first part of the summer and the second book should be finished just before returning to school.

*In an effort to encourage our students to build a quality home library and to read quality literature, students must acquire their own copies of their required reading. It is recommended that the student own the books so they can make notes, highlight passages, and write their comments in the margins. Used books may be available for some of the books when you shop online sources.

Critical Book Review Format

A critical book review contains a description of a book you have read and what you thought about it. It is a way of sharing your thoughts about a book with others.
