Third grade offers many new academic experiences in our curriculum.  Each subject is listed with the major concepts.

Bible - We begin our study in the Old Testament pointing the way to the Messiah. Next, the New Testament is our focus showing the fulfillment of God's promises. Following that, we study the Bible, mankind/salvation, angels, and things to come.  Worship, prayer and praise, discipleship, Bible study and fellowship are the topics that finish the year.

Reading-Students continue applying previously learned skills, comprehension, inference, and drawing conclusions, and are introduced to new vocabulary.  Both realistic and fanciful reading are included.  Throughout the year we will practice timed reading and comprehension questions.

Math- Addition and subtraction with renaming with numbers to the hundred thousands place, fractions and decimals, multiplication and division along with  word problems are the concepts for the third grade.

English- Principles of paragraph writing extend to writing assignments where students learn proofreading and correcting their work. Parts of speech, subjects and predicates, kinds of sentences, word usage, contractions, punctuation, and capitals are included in our curriculum and will be incorporated in any writing assignment.

Spelling-The purpose is for students to be able to use properly all the words learned in the lessons with correct spelling in any assignments.  This year we begin in a new curriculum.

Social Studies-The curriculum presents highlights of historical figures from Christopher Columbus to Martin Luther King.  Learning the locations of all fifty states, their abbreviations and map skills are included.

Science-Students study plants, animals and the human body.  Health continues the study of the human body and includes manners and saftey.
