LCA’s Philosophical Foundation

Key to the success of any endeavor is an understanding of those beliefs that are foundational to the purpose of that endeavor. It cannot be overstated that the philosophical foundation of the ministry of Littlestown Christian Academy finds its substance in the Word of God. When we talk about having a Biblical worldview we mean that our beliefs and actions find support and direction in the Holy Bible. In Matthew 7:24 Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” The following section provides a summation of what we believe at Littlestown Christian Academy.

LCA has a Biblical worldview, we believe in:

  • the reality of absolute truth
  • the existence of a supreme moral law
  • the existence of a sovereign creator God
  • the authority of God’s revealed written Word
  • the preeminence of Jesus Christ, mankind’s redeemer

We believe a student:

  • is created in the image of God, yet has a sinful nature
  • has a potential for good, yet has an inclination to sin
  • is a living soul in need of regeneration having both a physical and spiritual nature
  • is uniquely gifted and called by God
  • has an independent will, yet has a need for nurturance, discipline, knowledge, and love.

We believe the family:

  • is an institution ordained by God and is foundational to His created social order
  • is under girded by marriage, the covenantal relationship between a husband and a wife into which children are born.
  • is the primary and responsible source of nurturance, discipline, knowledge and love.
  • is to be lead by the father who serves as a priest before God.
  • is to be in fellowship with a local church which can be complemented by Christian schooling.

We believe that the Church:

  • is the family of God made up of all who believe and have experienced the regenerate work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • has a fivefold mission
    • Worship
    • Fellowship
    • Discipleship
    • Stewardship
    • Evangelism
  • functions through the local church, an earthly institution of governance charged with carrying out the mission of the Church
  • is lead by individuals God has gifted and placed in the local church
    • Apostles
    • Prophets
    • Evangelists
    • Pastors
    • Teachers
  • is organized into several ministry arms one of which is the Christian School.

We believe that the community needs and can expect :

  • active involvement and leadership from Christians and the Church
  • a Biblical lifestyle modeled by Christians and the Church
  • compassion and hospitality from Christians and Church
  • the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed by Christians and Church
  • God's favor as they cooperate with Christians and Church

We believe teachers:

  • are also students
  • are gifted by God to teach
  • are committed to professional development
  • are role-models of Christian character and a godly lifestyle
  • are leaders in the classroom

We believe an authentic education:

  • must be based in a Biblical worldview
  • requires a culture of learning
  • is a well rounded education
  • requires a learning centered classroom
  • is both an individual and social process
